Who knew that those three legendary chords could create such a long, interesting history for The Shadows of Knight. The band was formed in 1964, originally as The Shadows. They became The Shadows of Knight in 1965 featuring Jim Sohns, Warren Rogers, Wayne Pursell, Tom Schiffour, and Norm Gotsch. Right as they were hitting it big, Pursell and Gotsch Show More...left the band, recruiting Jerry McGeorge and Joe Kelley. This is the lineup that recorded the two most well known Shadows of Knight albums, "Gloria" and "Backdoor Men". David "Hawk" Wolinski was recruited as the Organ Player, and later replaced Rogers on bass after he was drafted into the US Military. This lineup lasted about 18 months before Sohns fired the entire band. After 4 billboard charting hits, the "classic" lineup of SOK was no more. Sohns performed as the SOK with many different lineups, and in 1969, the Shadows of Knight released one last million seller, "Shake". This was with a Jimy Sohns and a totally different Super K lineup. Sohns has never stopped touring as The Shadows of Knight. After 37 years of no new albums, The Shadows of Knight released "A Knight to Remember" in 2006, to critical acclaim. In August of 2016, The ORIGINAL Shadows of Knight got back together for one last show in Arlington Heights for the first time since 1967. But the history doesn't end there...Sohns continues to rock festivals, arenas, casinos, clubs, and anywhere that he feels like to this very day. 51 years later and you can still hear the crowd scream "G L O R I A!!!!". ...Show Less

Celebrate summer with "An Evening in the Cloister" on Friday, June 2, 6-9:00pm at Glencairn Museum, enjoying the medieval-styled cloister garden, light fare and the music of world-class guitarist Blane Bostock.

Tickets for this limited-admission event are on sale through May 30: $20, $15 for Museum members, $10 for designated drivers; must Show More...be 21 to attend.

Guests will also have access to the visual and aural delights of the LED-lit, newly restored fountain on the North terrace and smaller cloister fountain, the first-floor Museum collections in the Great Hall and Upper Hall, and the much-coveted views from the tower as evening falls.

Throughout the evening Bostock will offer guitar selections from a variety of styles. The Bryn Athyn resident has studied with such luminaries as Dennis Sandole, author of Guitar Lore and teacher of John Coltrane, George Benson and Pat Martino. Over the years, he's played in small groups, big bands, jazz ensembles and rock, soul, disco and country bands. He appeared as a soloist with Latin legend Johnny Pacheco at the Allentown Symphony and Annenberg Center in "A Night of Latin Classics," featuring arrangements commissioned for the concert from artists like Reuben Gonzales and Bebo Valdes.

Glencairn, former home to the Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn family, has its own cloister that replicates in smaller scale the serene covered colonnades and open quadrangles attached to European cathedrals, monasteries and convents to provide protected walkways for the religious orders living there.

The Pitcairns chose an avian theme for the stone work in the cloister, and visitors will find a variety of birds carved into the capitals of the supporting columns. The tranquil setting also features white-themed gardens laid out by award-winning designer Danielle Odhner, who created and maintains the gardens at Bryn Athyn Cathedral as well as Glencairn.. ...Show Less

McCoole's Arts & Events Place will present "The Ghost Army Event," celebrating the top-secret WWII deception unit that duped the Nazis, Saturday, June 3, from 6 - 9 pm and Sunday, June 4, from 2 - 5 pm.
Each day's events include a screening of the award-winning PBS documentary The Ghost Army, a chance to meet veterans of the unit, and a Ghost Army Show More...exhibit that features a life-size inflatable Sherman tank.

The Ghost Army was officially known as the 23rd Headquarters Special Troops. From June 1944 to March 1945, it staged 20 battlefield deceptions, beginning in Normandy and ending along the Rhine River. The deceivers employed hundreds of inflatables (tanks, trucks, jeeps, airplanes), sound trucks, phony radio transmissions and even playacting to fool the enemy. Their brilliant deceptions saved thousands of lives.

Among those appearing will be Rick Beyer and Elizabeth Sayles, authors of the New York Times best seller The Ghost Army of World War II. (There will be a book signing each day.) Ghost Army veterans Bernie Mason (from Philadelphia) and John Jarvie (from Kearny New Jersey), both of whom are featured in the film and book, will answer questions after the screenings. Other special guests are also expected.

This event honors Ghost Army veteran John Kennedy, who was from Quakertown. It is the brainchild of his daughter, Lynn Kennedy, who will also be in attendance. It is being presented with the generous support of the Quakertown Historical Society and McCoole's Arts & Events.

Tickets are $20 for general admission, $15 for senior admission. A cash bar will be available. For tickets and more information, please visit www.mccoolesredlioninn.com

With an unparalleled performance, The American RUSH Tribute Lotus Land brings the force of live Rush
to life on stage. Enjoyed by die-hard Rush fans, musicians and casual music listeners alike, the Lotus
Land experience has been heralded as the ultimate celebration of RUSH's musical craftsmanship and
spirited performances. With the true set Show More...up and sound of the Canadian power trio, Lotus Land delivers the
thrill that people expect when they see Rush in concert. Their performances have wowed sold-out houses
in New England's premiere concert venues and casinos and their fan-base continues to grow nationally
and internationally. From as far south as the Hard Rock Café in Panama City, Panama & back to back
nights at the Hardrock Café in the Dominican Republic, to as far north as Toronto Canada where the band
was honored in performing for the largest international RUSH fan event, RUSHCON, in 2012 & 2014.
Lotus Land has also dotted up the eastern seaboard of the United States playing shows in Virginia,
Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont and Connecticut.

Other highlights have been with playing with accomplished violinist Gerardo Hilera (Clockwork Angels -
Tour) on multiple occasions in the New England area. Lotus Land has had the honor of being introduced
on two occasions by RUSH Icon Donna Halper. (www.donnahalper.com)

Each of the Lotus Land band members - Chris Nelson, Bob Chartrand and Mark Dalton - has had their
share of notable gigs during their musical careers. Nelson has been the guitarist for Herb Reed and the
Platters since 1994 and has played with such performers as DD Martin, Anthony Vitti, The Drifters, The
Coasters and Jon Finn. Chartrand and Dalton teamed up early on for two ventures, The Lye and Shiny
Green Flies. Together with those bands they enjoyed sharing the stage with such big names as ELO II and
The Alarm. These seasoned musicians don't take the task of recreating Rush's music lightly. Says Lotus
Land drummer, Dalton, "In this band, we take great pride in being a three piece band whose performance,
we feel, will please even the most fanatical Rush fan. In a nutshell, we strive to be the closest thing
musically to Rush that anyone has yet heard. When all is said and done, we hope to bring you the music
of Rush with a live sound as big and true to form as can be heard anywhere.". ...Show Less

New Hope-Solebury & Lambertville Community Choir Concert in Carversville

The New Hope-Solebury & Lambertville Community Choir concludes its fifth season with a concert entitled "Blessings" on Sunday afternoon, June 4 at 3:00 p.m. at Carversville Christian Church, 3736 Aquetong Rd. in Carversville. The choir, led by local musician, composer, Show More...and conductor Rick Rosen, is made up of singers from the immediate and surrounding area, and is open to one and all.

NHSLCC's "Blessings" program presents a wide variety of choral music, with performances from the full choir and from individual choir members as well. Concert music spans the centuries, covers a wide range of types and styles, and includes traditional music as well as compositions from Joseph Haydn, James Taylor, Charles Tindley, Charles Osborne, Giacomo Puccini, Stephen Stills, Jean Berger, George Gershwin and more.

Since its inception in September of 2012, the New Hope-Solebury & Lambertville Community Choir has functioned as a true grass-roots community choir program - the choir is non-audition, made up of members of the community and the immediate surrounding area, rehearsing weekly. Members of the group come from virtually all walks of life, joined together in the spirit of music and community. In addition to singing a regular yearly concert schedule, the Choir's community outreach efforts have resulted in a growing number of performances in area nursing homes, senior residences, and rehab centers.

Tickets for "Blessings" are $10.00. They can be purchased from Community Choir members, or at the door. To reserve tickets in advance, telephone NHSLCC at 650.219.2748, or make contact online at www.nhslchoir.org, or on Facebook.. ...Show Less
